Artist's Description

This is one of several surviving slave cabins from Hobcaw Barony, a land grant from the 1718. The property was once owned by Banard Baruch, then his daughter Belle. It is now owned by the Belle baruch Foundation and used by Clemson University and University of SC.

Sandra Anderson I am blessed to live in the South Carolina Low Country where the abundance of nature, landscapes, seascapes, architecture and historic sites produce a never ending supply of subjects and inspiration. I have a special passion for photographing the vanishing culture of the area such as tobacco barns, old houses and examples of by gone days. For centuries this was agricultural, first with indigo, then rice and finally tobacco. Now with the growing population, much of the past is disappearing under strip malls, housing developments or just falling down, so the need to preserve these treasures in photographs is great.
