This image of the two tobacco barns was made last year (2011). Both were in very bad shape with tin roofs peeling and siding falling off. Both are now gone, more of the vanishing culture.

I have a special passion for photographing the vanishing culture of the area such as tobacco barns, old houses and examples of by gone days. For centuries this was agricultural, first with indigo, then rice and finally tobacco. Now with the growing population, much of the past is disappearing under strip malls, housing developments or just falling down, so the need to preserve these treasures in photographs is great.
