Artist's Description

This antebellum rice plantation, Mansfield (c1718), has one of the last remaining winnowing barns in the Lowcountry. The winnowing barns were used to separate the grains by dropping the rice through a hole in the floor on a windy day. Mansfield Plantation is now a Bed & Breakfast.
